Getting Started – A Travel and Writing Blog

I’m finally doing it. After years of promising myself and other people that I’d start a blog, I’m finally following through.

I must stay, at 60 seconds in, it feels great. I feel accomplished, confident and thoroughly optimistic that I’ll be blogging on a weekly basis and never miss a single post.

I’m fairly sure I’ll never have writer’s block and I’ll always know exactly what photos to post. I’ll have original ideas that no one has ever thought of before, and I’ll probably have a few hundred followers by tomorrow morning.

Do you believe that even for a second?

Actually, I’m terrified. Even though I majored in English and minored in Creative Writing and I blog and write for other companies, I’ve never really written for myself. People have always paid me to say what they wanted me to say.

But now, nobody is paying me to say anything. I can write what I want, and if people ever read this and comment, they’re critiquing…me and not someone else. And that feels a little risky, yet here I go.

My name is Rachel and I’m a travel planner and a professional writer. I plan family vacations, honeymoons, destination weddings, cruises, group travel and tours, and I also write creative content for companies and individuals. I’d love to help you plan your next vacation, or I can edit a document for you or even rewrite content on your own website.

I can’t wait to jump into this blog and share my adventures from my recent travels. Look for posts about San Miguel de Allende, a quaint, colorful town south of Mexico City, and Gdansk, Poland, the city where World War II began. I’ll give you some updates on the new Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at the Disney Parks, as well as the Sandals and Beaches Resorts, the award-winning resorts in the Caribbean.

So there! I’ve finished my first post. I’ve heard someone say that whatever is nagging you—whatever is constantly on your mind—that is what you need to do more than anything else. I’ve felt blog-guilt pangs for years because I knew I was supposed to start my blog but I always said I was too busy. But it’s time to start doing something for me. Thanks for coming along with me and reading.
